In Virginia there are three pathways to fulfill the vaccination requirements to attend school:
1. You can have your child vaccinated and submit their vaccinations record to their school.
2. You can or you can submit a religious exemption or medical exemption form. To claim a religious exemption, print out the form, fill it out, and sign in front of a notary public.
3. You can submit a medical exemption. For a medical exemption visit your child's doctor to determine if they qualify for one.
Please note that in Virginia you do NOT need an organized religion to claim a medical exemption. Your conscience is enough to dictate a religious objection to a medical procedure. The Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom protects this right. The Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom is a statement about both freedom of conscience and the principle of separation of church and state.
